Chloe came to the Center when her owner passed away. She is 5 years old, spayed, up to date on shots and tested negative for FeLV, FIV and FHW. She was an only cat and would love to be one again.

Welcome Augustus (Gus) to the center! He is around 3 years old, front declawed, neutered, up to date on shots and tested negative for FIV and FEL. Gus is a real sweetheart and is ready to be someone's snuggle buddy!

Mission Statement
This wonderful facility offers a safe place for pets of Antrim County in true emergency situations that have nowhere else to go. Sometimes they can be reunited with their owners after the crisis has passed but more times the pet is in need of a new loving home.

Come walk dogs, play with cats, adopt, or just check out the Center.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 am - 4:00pm
Saturday 10 am 'till noon
Closed on Sunday and Monday

Logan is 8 years old and Carmel's adopted sister. She would love a home to just snuggle, enjoy the true cat life and maybe take Carmel along Logan is up to date on shots, tested negative for FeLV, FIV, FHW and has been spayed.

Caramel is Logan's 10 year old adopted sister. They both came in when their owner became very ill and has since passed away. Like Logan she is a very sweet cat and loves attention. Carmel is spayed, up to date on shots and tested negative for FeLV, FIV, and FHW.

Central Lake, Elk Rapids and Rapid City Village Markets give WaLHFMF (and other charitable organizations) credit, and at the end of each year, MONEY for receipts that we collect throughout the year. Requirements for Adoption
Cats are kept indoors.

Fenced in yard for all dogs

If pet is not spayed/neutered at time of adoption a pre-paid spay/neuter receipt from your veterinarian is due at time of adoption.

About our Adoption Process:

Fill out the pre adoption questionnaire on our website or during your visit. (you can fill it out online, save to pdf and E-mail to: "walhfmf_4@hotmail.com" (no quotes). Signature not required until you come to the shelter. Once complete a 24-48 hour waiting process will take place. During that time we are checking with your vet, landlord and local animal control.

Once you have been approved for adoption you can pick up your new family member and sign our adoption contract. There are no adoption fees, however donations are always welcome.

Candy is a 9 month old lab mix. She is part of the 47% of dogs relinquished to the shelter each year from 3 months to 3 years old.
She is part of the 96% of dogs at animal control that have received no training. Candy is a smart puppy who is already sitting and wants to please.
She needs a good loving home that can give her the time, training and affection she is so longing for.
