Moka, our older resident black lab mix and center's mascot received an in-clinic stem cell procedure in January. Veterinarians now have a new tool available to combat osteoarthritis and give hope to improving quality of life of canines, felines and equine patients. Adipose derived stem cell therapy allows for an affordable and minimally invasive procedure to harvest adult stem cell cells from animals who are seeking pain relief. Dr. Christian Randall of North Country Veterinary is one of the 450 nationwide progressive Veterinarians to implement this breakthrough American Veterinary Medical Association approved procedure. Moka has hip dysplasia in both hips and has been suffering from severe arthritis; this procedure will make a big difference in her quality of life. She is the first patient in Northern Michigan to receive this treatment; needless to say we are all very excited!
